Ok, so American history is wrought with idolizations of the silly and ridiculous. In the 1960’s it was the yellow ‘happy’ face telling you to Have A Good Day, the late 1970’s it was “Pet Rock” (hey, and it wasn’t even a cute rock!), the late 1990’s it was Beanie Baby (God help us all… we bought them in droves, even on stands along the highway), now ushering into the new millennium is the newest (perhaps sillyest yet) craze: Bean Buddy.
But think about it…. What is most Americans best friend in the morning: a cup of good coffee! Husbands, wives, lovers and good friends pale in comparison [and better NOT get in our way] of that first cup of coffee. After all, Coffee is most people’s best friend as they slough out of bed and face the world.
Looking at it, coffee Beans are really our best Buddy. But what tribute have these little guys gotten? Advertisement history has made oodles of bucks and great acclaim on cute little candies with M&M stamped on them, a peanut with top hat, dancing raisins (and let’s face it the average raisin pales in cuteness to an adorable coffee bean). The time has come for the coffee bean to take its place in the lime light!
Even people who do not drink coffee appreciate the smell of fresh roasted beans or a percolating pot. These little guys are adorable, round, some fat, some thin, golden brown or darkly roasted…. They’re CUTE! How could you possible not want one of these Morning Heroes as your buddy! They are the Bean! They are our Buddy’s!
So laugh as you will, but please finally give these little guys their due in society. Can you imagine a world without coffee! A world of cranky bosses, zombie like co-workers, and no coffee shop to escape to where you can partake in mid-day internet loping and professional obligation escape. These guys are your hero; these guys are your Buddies!
